Vaani came back home after her talk with Shruthi, her mind swirling with conflicting emotions. Shruthi’s words had stirred something deep inside her—her dormant ambition, her pride as a once-celebrated law student, and also the lingering ache of what had happened years ago. She knew that if she was to pursue law again, she couldn’t continue her job at the school. The children’s innocent smiles gave her comfort, but her heart whispered that she wasn’t meant to end her life as just a schoolteacher.
